Grading Game 4: North Shore

http://www.sportingpulse.com/comp_info.cgi?a=ROUND&round=5&client=1-4202-0-364141-0&pool=1

From the the very start North Shore looked the better team, they had lots of skills and good formation, however Three Kings showed great commitment and managed to hold off their attacks while creating a few chances of their own. Molly had a couple of great passed across the goal area, but just didn't connect with a striker. Dani also had an excellent break away but just couldn't find the finishing touch to pass the keeper.

It was great to watch and I was somewhat relieved to make to to half time goalless.

More of the same was the message at half time with a little more marking to try and close them down before they gain momentum.

Second half started well with TKU continuing to defend live daemons and creating a few great chances. Then Anna was knocked off the ball by a strong, yet fair challenge, and somehow Sophie picked up the loose ball and scored... 1-0 ahead, a pleasing surprise to say the least.

We switched to a 4 defensive formation to try to defend the lead and if worked well. North shore seemed to become a bit unraveled for a while... then suddenly one stand out player cut a line through defense and scored... 1-1 was still a great result given the quality of team we were up against, but it was not to be. While TKU were still recovering from the goal, they created another goal, with a great cross across the face of the goal, past Ellie, and a lovely final touch straight to the back of the net.

With only a few minutes remaining it was too much to come back ... 1-2 lose in the end, however a proud performance against a better team.

Ellie was player of the day after a busy day in the office... great all round goal keeping which, with the help and a strong defensive team effort produced a great performance.

Good learnings through this grading round....

Grading Game 2: East coast bays

Close game, but East Coast just too good for us. They scored 1 goal and we failed to find the net, had a few chances but final shots to weak to really threaten the goal keeper.

Chloe was awarded player of the day for commitment and skills in the midfield, worked hard for the whole game covering defensively and creating attacking opportunities.

Grading Game 1: Fensibles

http://www.sportingpulse.com/comp_info.cgi?a=ROUND&round=2&client=1-4202-0-364141-0&pool=1

Team Falconer (Teal) has a great first game of the season, they looked like they'd not had a long summer break. Helped by the consistency in the team from last year, however Elise and Chloe did not look out of place instantly fitting into the team...

From the kick off they dominated position and played most of the game in the oppositions half, which helps to keep coaches stress levels at bay...

It took a while to get the goal scoring underway but after Molly found the net there was no stopping her, she finished with game with a hat trick and Sophie managed one as well.

Fensibles did manage a single goal late in the 2nd half to end the game 4-1...

Molly was awarded player of the day for general involvement and 3 great goals. There were noticeable performances across the team so I think it's going to be hard picking a single player of the day each week..

Goal Tally
Molly 3
Sophie 1
