It was great to watch and I was somewhat relieved to make to to half time goalless.
More of the same was the message at half time with a little more marking to try and close them down before they gain momentum.
Second half started well with TKU continuing to defend live daemons and creating a few great chances. Then Anna was knocked off the ball by a strong, yet fair challenge, and somehow Sophie picked up the loose ball and scored... 1-0 ahead, a pleasing surprise to say the least.
We switched to a 4 defensive formation to try to defend the lead and if worked well. North shore seemed to become a bit unraveled for a while... then suddenly one stand out player cut a line through defense and scored... 1-1 was still a great result given the quality of team we were up against, but it was not to be. While TKU were still recovering from the goal, they created another goal, with a great cross across the face of the goal, past Ellie, and a lovely final touch straight to the back of the net.
With only a few minutes remaining it was too much to come back ... 1-2 lose in the end, however a proud performance against a better team.
Ellie was player of the day after a busy day in the office... great all round goal keeping which, with the help and a strong defensive team effort produced a great performance.
Good learnings through this grading round....
